Description
Afrikaburn is an annual event held in the Tankwa Karoo desert of South Africa. It is inspired by the Burning Man festival in the United States and follows similar principles of self-expression, community, and art. Afrikaburn is the regional Burning Man event for the African continent.
During Afrikaburn, participants come together to create a temporary city called “Tankwa Town” in the desert. The event is characterized by art installations, theme camps, performances, music, workshops, and interactive experiences. Participants are encouraged to express themselves creatively, contribute to the community, and engage in communal living.
One of the main highlights of Afrikaburn is the burning of a large wooden art.
