Feeding Frenzy by the Hoards: Vultures Take Over Giraffe Carcass At Madikwe 🦒 🦅🦅🦅

There’s nothing quite like witnessing the raw power of nature up close — and this week in Madikwe Game Reserve, our excited Photographer guests were treated to just that. A giraffe carcass became the centre of a chaotic spectacle as hoards of vultures descended in a flurry of feathers and fury.

It wasn’t long before White-backed Vultures joined the feast to rip apart a Giraffe carcass 🦴 Each species plays a vital role in the clean-up crew of the bushveld, picking apart the remains with surprising efficiency and order — despite the seemingly frenzied scene.Other vultures found at Madikwe include the Lappet-faced Vulture, the largest and most dominant of the group; and the Hooded Vulture.

These birds may not be the most glamorous safari sighting, but their role in the ecosystem is irreplaceable. Nature, in all its raw beauty, never fails to remind us who’s really in charge out here.
